Activities
Skye is known internationally as a destination for climbers and
walkers and has something for everyone in terms of ability. From
low level but spectacular walking in the Quiraing and along the
Troternish Ridge, including "The Old Man of Storr",
in the North West of the Island to the famous Cuillin range which
offers challenging climbs or exhilarating hikes, but still with
breathtaking views, on the easier routes.
The Island also offers many other outdoor activities including
loch and sea fishing, sailing and spectacular boat trips –
the trip into the heart of The Cuillins from Elgol on the "Bella
Jane" is not to be missed. Whatever your interest please
feel free to contact us for more information on activities that
interest you.
For those seeking a less strenuous break Skye also has a great
deal to offer in terms of history, culture and crafts. There are
a range of small museums on the Island and you will come across
many local craft shops in the villages as you travel about the
Island – the highly regarded Edinbane
Pottery for example is just four miles west of the Steading
Cottage.
The availability of high quality local produce also makes Skye
a great place to eat out with fabulous food available at places
such as the widely acclaimed Three
Chimneys restaurant, the Loch
Bay Seafood restaurant or a wide range of choice of restaurants
and Hotels in and around Portree, all within an easy drive of
the Steading cottage.
Whatever your interest we are sure you will have a peaceful,
satisfying and highly memorable break in Steading Cottage on the
Isle of Skye. |
