The Island’s main town of Portree is some ten miles from Lyndale and offers a good range of shops, restaurants, bars and visitor attractions. The Aros Heritage Centre in Portree is one of the Island's top attractions and well worth a visit, as is An Tuireann the local art gallery with wonderful healthy eating options!

A stroll along the front at Portree harbour is also a must with lots of activity in the bay with boats coming and going and the offer of a leisure or fishing trip if the mood takes you.

Location

The town of Dunvegan is some ten miles in the other direction from Lyndale and while offering a small range of shops, etc is of course best known as the location of the world famous Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod.

Given the links between Lyndale Estate and the MacLeod’s mentioned above we feel this is a must for all visitors to Steading Cottage! The boat trips from Dunvegan to view the seals colonies are also very worthwhile.
